Addressing Workplace Harassment and Discrimination

Racial Justice

Lawyers for Civil Rights is calling on the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination (MCAD) to implement more robust guidelines to help address workplace harassment and discrimination.

In public comments submitted to the MCAD, LCR urges more dedicated training for employers to effectively respond to various forms of workplace harassment, including discrimination based on intersectional identities.

As the pandemic continues to change workplace dynamics, LCR urges the MCAD to create anti-harassment and anti-discrimination training to address the unique circumstances surrounding remote work.

To help workplaces avoid legal missteps, the MCAD should also proactively tackle misconceptions surrounding the U.S. Supreme Court’s recent affirmative action decision to clarify that diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) programs remain lawful, relevant, effective, and viable.
