Roz Freeman

Entrepreneurship Manager

Roz has spent her career working with small food businesses. Prior to joining Lawyers for Civil Rights (LCR), Roz was on the opening team for Nubian Markets, a restaurant, cafe, grocery store, and butchery in Roxbury. She also served as a consultant to other small businesses and entrepreneurs.

Roz also worked at CommonWealth Kitchen (CWK), a food business incubator in Dorchester, supporting more than 150 emerging food businesses. At CWK, she developed and launched the Food Biz 101 series in collaboration with LCR | BizGrow.

During the pandemic, Roz organized local restaurants owned by people of color to produce emergency food for community centers, a powerful collaboration between the City of Boston, CWK, restaurants and community. Roz also helped create the first Restaurant Resiliency Program with Boston-based minority-owned restaurants. This program continues to this day with LCR | BizGrow partnering to help restaurants across the Commonwealth. Roz graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Skidmore College.
