Denouncing Racism and Misogyny in Runup to Election Day
Non-Partisan Election Protection Volunteers in Place to Protect Our Democracy
Lawyers for Civil Rights (LCR) is committed to preventing discriminatory practices from impacting the integrity of our elections. As discriminatory rhetoric and tactics are escalating across the political landscape, we are mobilizing hundreds of pro bono attorneys and poll monitors to safeguard a fair voting environment in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
Discrimination and harassment in the electoral process harm individual voters and undermine public trust in our democratic institutions. LCR is committed to ensuring that every person, regardless of background or political affiliation, can cast a ballot free from intimidation, bias, or harassment. We are also promoting a policy landscape that respects the integrity and inclusivity of our political process. Regardless of political affiliation, LCR holds local, regional and national officials accountable to uphold the rule of law.
There is no place in our democracy for racist and misogynistic rhetoric designed to alienate and intimidate voters. Divisive rhetoric lays the groundwork for attacks on the legitimacy of our election results. Standing up to hate is a matter of protecting our democratic institutions.
This is exactly why LCR invests significant resources in non-partisan Election Protection initiatives. We are mobilizing the full force of our New England legal network to protect our democracy, monitor the polls, stand up to voter suppression, and ensure access to the ballot box for all voters in the region. Our non-partisan Election Protection hotline team (866-OUR-VOTE) is already fielding voter questions from across New England. LCR trained and coordinated poll monitors will be out in force at polling locations across Massachusetts and New Hampshire on Election Day.
Regardless of the outcome of the 2024 Presidential Election, LCR will remain steadfast in our commitment to fight discrimination in all its forms, to protect our democracy, and to stand up against hate.
The following upcoming Election Protection trainings are open to reporters and the general public:
Through Election Day, any voter with questions or concerns can call for live support and technical assistance. For help in languages other than English, voters can call: 888-VE-Y-VOTA (Spanish); 888-API-VOTE (Asian languages); or 844-YALLA-US (Arabic).
