Community Response to Tension Between Police and Communities of Color

Police Accountability, Racial Justice

On July 20, 2016, Staff Attorney Sophia Hall of the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights discussed the growing tensions between police departments and communities of color on Channel 7’s Urban Update.

The discussion centered on concrete steps, improved diversity efforts and implicit bias training that the Boston Police Department could take to address tension and mistrust between police and communities of color. These action items reflect the requests made by the Lawyers’ Committee in a open letter to Mayor Walsh focusing on race in Boston.
