On August 5, community leaders expressed concerns regarding the Boston police unions’ demands for more guns and armor. As our executive director, Ivan Espinoza-Madrigal, discussed with the Boston Herald:
“Instead of focusing on essentially the militarization of police, what we should be focusing on is training — training to de-escalate encounters and incidents and training to better understand the communities that the police officers patrol and serve,” Espinoza-Madrigal said.
