Former BBA President Ed Barshak to be Honored Through New Fund for Justice

Events

Former Boston Bar Association (BBA) President Ed Barkshak of Sugarman, Rodgers, Barshak and Cohen will be recognized by the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights and Economic Justice for the tremendous contribution he has made to the bar and to the community.  The “Edward J. Barshak Fund for Justice” has been established to provide dedicated litigation resources for the Lawyers’ Committee’s anti-discrimination cases.

It is a fitting tribute for a lawyer who – as BBA President – stepped in during Boston’s desegregation and busing crisis. Believing that lawyers could help guide progress and make a difference by weighing in on public affairs, Ed worked tirelessly throughout his presidency to educate the public about desegregation and the busing movement, cementing the BBA’s reputation as not only a trusted voice in the legal profession, but the community at large.

For this and his many other contributions to the bar, the BBA honored Ed with its Lifetime Achievement Award in 2014.

A celebration of Ed and the Fund’s launch will be held at WilmerHale (60 State Street) on April 27th from 5:30-7:30PM. To attend the event, please RSVP to reception@lawyerscom.org.  The BBA announcement is available here.
