The Boston Police Department is under investigation by the state Civil Service Commission over concerns that some 300 high-scoring applicants for patrolmen’s jobs were not hired, with the openings going instead to those with lower rankings.
On behalf of the Massachusetts Association of Minority Law Enforcement Officers (MAMLEO) and the Boston Society of Vulcans, the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights wrote a letter to the Civil Service Commission urging their investigation into the Boston Police Department’s hiring practices, and asking to be formally included in the investigatory process.
The letter to the Civil Service Commission is available here: MAMLEO Vulcans Letter re CSC Investigation
This request to the Civil Service Commission was featured in the Boston Herald and the Bay State Banner.
