LCCR Staff Attorney Matthew Cregor was featured in a Boston Globe article discussing opposition to the City of Boston’s plan to place all middle school students on the T instead of school buses. In the article, Cregor raises the sexual harassment that middle school girls experienced from men in and around the T. LCCR fears that such safety concerns, when coupled with Boston’s new student assignment system, will have a chilling effect on diversity in Boston Public Schools. LCCR has worked with the Boston Branch of the NAACP and others in opposition to this plan, testifying before the School Committee and City Council and publishing an op-ed and letter to the editor in the Boston Globe last summer. Cregor served on a mayoral committee to monitor implementation of the city’s reduced T plan.
