On Monday, April 11th, the Boston City Council’s Education Committee held a hearing on discipline in Boston’s charter and traditional public schools. The hearing examined disciplinary rates and disparities across the city as well as practices shown to reduce both. Matt Cregor, LCCR’s Education Project Director, was quoted in the Bay State Banner, noting “Out-of-school suspension is found to predict dropout rates and involvement in the criminal justice system.” http://baystatebanner.com/news/2016/apr/13/scrutiny-put-bps-suspensions/
