Urgent Vaccine Administration Recommendations

Coronavirus, Health Disparities

As the Commonwealth begins Phase Two of its statewide vaccination program, Lawyers for Civil Rights (LCR) and the Greater Boston Latino Network (GBLN) sent an open letter to the Governor’s Office, the Executive Office of Health and Human Services, and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health with urgent vaccine administration recommendations, including:

  • Increasing the number of vaccination sites in communities of color by using a location-based strategy to prioritize the most severely affected and densely populated communities;
  • Incorporating a centralized, statewide registration system where residents can more easily make vaccination appointments; and
  • Ensuring that culturally competent and language accessible public health education are given to the state’s most vulnerable populations.

These efforts are critical to protect communities of color and immigrant communities from COVID-19, and to ensure the public health of everyone in the Commonwealth.
