Tackling Discrimination in the Internet Age

Employment, Housing, Racial Justice

At the Lawyers’ Committee, we are shining a light on discrimination in housing and employment. We were the first legal organization in the country to call for Airbnb and Amazon to root out discriminatory practices.

As the internet economy grows, we are combating new forms of discrimination. “It’s just a 21st-century twist on an old problem that’s still with us,” said our litigation director Oren Sellstrom to the Boston Globe in an article highlighting our recent work.

Our efforts led Airbnb to adopt reforms to protect thousands of renters. We are now proposing reforms to Amazon.

Our work against these internet giants has also been featured in the Boston Business Journal
